Mexican Summer: Five Years — Celebrating with a Two-Day Festival and a Commemorative Deluxe Hardcover Book with a 10” EP of Exclusive Collaborations

This fall marks Mexican Summer’s five-year anniversary and, to celebrate, we have a few special plans lined up.

First, we’re commemorating the milestone with Mexican Summer: Five Years, a 250-page, 11″x11” book limited to 1,000 copies. The book features unique and unseen art and ephemera, photos and written contributions from a host of Mexican Summer artists. Designed by longtime collaborator Dan Schechter, Mexican Summer: Five Years features an embossed cloth cover, screen-printed craft paper wrap, and three interior paper stocks.

Accompanying the book is a 10″ record of exclusive collaborations from Bay Of Pigs (Spiritualized, Soldiers Of Fortune and Neil Hagerty), Jorge Elbrose (Jorge Elbrecht and Ariel Pink), Autre Ne Veut and Fennesz, Bobb Trimble and Quilt, and The Lonely Sailor and Renée Mendoza Haran (members of Total Control, Lace Curtain & Ashrae Fax). This music is exclusive to the book and will not be available digitally.

Next, we’ve put together the Mexican Summer Five-Year Festival, which takes place on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12 at the Pioneer Works Center for Art and Innovation in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The venue will provide indoor and outdoor space to feature live performances and DJ sets by Mexican Summer artists and friends, in what will be a joyous celebration of five years and many more to come.

Transportation is available via Rockabus to and from the venue, with two departure points in Downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg. Prime Meats, Frankies Spuntino 457 and Brooklyn Brewery will be providing food and drinks for the festivities. There will be a CO-OP 87-run pop-up shop of collectible used vinyl and Mexican Summer releases.
